Ares’ Treat

You see that donut, that cookie, that cake,

It seem delicious, though it’s pleasure is fake.

You hear a voice whisper in your ear,

”Just take it, my friend...” Ares is here.

You lick your lips, your mouth begins to water,

You hope no one’ll see you, in your cookie slaughter.

And within a second, it’s in your hand,

You begin to move forward at Ares’ command.

Just as you’re almost through your escape,

And guilt in your heart begins to shape,

You feel a firm hand pull you back,

”Hey!” it shouts; then starts the attack.

You defend and argue with all your might,

But where is Ares’? He’s nowhere in sight.

As you sit down, you take your defeat,

You hear Ares’ laughing, “What a wonderful treat.”
