American Suffering

Sat, 07/08/2017 - 19:40 -- ACME

They say life is a gift,

That love bridges the rifts,

They say 'follow your dreams',

They ask you to come clean.

But what if life is greedy and shallow,

Driven by heads and hearts that are hollow,

Dreams are forgotten, abandoned, at the bank,

So alchol leaves your mind ignorantly blank.

Life becomes a dull repeating motion,

Then they add painkillers to your magic potion,

As the moments are dragged on, consumed,

Each step brings you closer to stepping into your tomb,

But they keep you blind as you walk,

Blinded by their sickeening talk,

Talk of the 'American Dream'

As you walk through the American Suffering
