America the Great?

Really...how do we rate?

There are homeless and poor...

So we could do more

to aid and to feed

to help those in need.

There also are wars, hate, crime and pollution.

Luckily, we hae great minds to think up solutions.

Combine nursing homes and day cares so both groups can thrive.

The young will gain knowledge, while the old feel alive.

So some say it's great and others, it's not,

but I say the greatness we need can be taught.

Be gracious, be thankful, be helpful, polite.

Say please, say thank you, fight for what's right.

Teach service, teach honor, teach all how to share.

Teach kindness and love, teach duty, to care.

Teach pride in your work and how giving uplifts

and appreciate our freedom, most blessed that gift. 

Is America great? Yes, that's mostly true.

But the real answer, friend, depends mostly on you.
