All I Need is My Mother

Most people say

what they need most

is their cellphone,

or their laptop.

But I never see people say

who they need most,

like their best friend,

or their mother.

Their mother who vows to love them

no matter what is said

or what is done.

Their mother who drives them places

no matter how much

she doesn’t want to be there.

Their mother who was their father

when their father decided

he wanted nothing to do with them.

Without my mother,

I would not be alive,

I would not be educated,

I would not be loved.

Without my mother,

I would not be me.
