All I Need

What would I bring?

No I wouldn’t bring a book

Or a phone

Or a computer

Those aren’t important to me

I’d bring my journal

The one under my matress

The one that’s ripping at the seams

The one that’s got loose papers floating around it

Why?

It’s me

It’s me without pictures

It’s me without me

It’s my thoughts

My hopes

My dreams

Without it I’d be lost

It doesn’t have my day-to-day activities

It has my characters

People who I created

Different versions of who I am

Who I wished I was

Who I hoped to be

I wouldn’t bring a person

Because I have my people

I wouldn’t bring a knife

I can make a spear

I wouldn’t bring sunscreen

I’ll make some shade

I’d bring my journal

I’d bring me
