Against the Tide

Location

Sing in me muse, and through me

Tell the tale of a beautiful young mermaid

With hair as red as cherries,

Eyes as blue as sea,

Lips red and luscious,

Who holds big hopes and dreams.

Feet are what she desires,

For her tale can only go so far when attempting

to run away from her wretched father.

Land is her goal,

But how to reach it when high waters are in the way?

Selling her soul might be her answer.

Three days with feet upon land.

But with true loves kiss,

An eternity will be granted.

She stumbles upon man,

Fighting her way through true love.

That one kiss would be worth a lifetime,

But failure wreaks havoc over this mermaid,

With hair as red as cherries,

Eyes as blue as sea,

Lips red and luscious,

Who holds a destroyed dream.

To retry would be insane!

So a battle will commence,

Between her earth land lover,

and the lady who granted her feet.

The earth land lover strikes the beast

with a sunken ship down into the deeps.

The ship strikes her abdomen,

But what is fate for this lofty hero?

The poor mermaid searches down in the depths

            for her earth land lover.

Bringing him upon land when found.

But he is enveloped with unconsciousness.

True love’s kiss awakens him.

Granted with the free choice to

switch between feet and tail as she wished,

The beautiful young mermaid

With the hair as red as cherries,

Eyes as blue as sea,

Lips red and luscious,

Has big hopes and dreams,

            which are now achieved.
