Adieu

A new year meant a new start.

The beginning was a blast,

and when that clock struck midnight

everything was in the past.

When spring came around,

things began to change.

The "love of my life" grew desperate,

and so I began to hate.

Summer was a bummer

with heartbreak in the air.

I hurt her then he hurt me.

No one seemed to care.

Fall turned over a new leaf.

A house unpacked and sold.

The story of that house was

forgotten and no longer told.

Winter then returned

with days riding on its back,

It was pregnant with a sense

of the justice that I lack.

The seasons came and went,

and with them so did I.

My personality changed immensely.

My soul, therefore, grew dry.

Here I am today.

Standing proud and tall.

Even though there was some pain,

I made it through it all.

I'm stronger than I was before.

I'm much happier than I was too.

I'll continue with my progress.

To this year, adieu.
