Hansel and Gretel: Two Millennial College Students
The summer has come and gone
A freshman in college we are
My sister and I are alone
We cannot afford to go to college
We decided to return home
And we did so, but not to open arms
Our parents didn’t want to take care of millennials
And they dismissed us to live on our own
Two years later, two college dropouts
With thousands of dollars in student loans
We make minimum wage and share an apartment
But my sister and I are alone
This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
