A daughter's plea

The sun rises another morning,
And I kiss the moon goodbye.
I think about the sweet times
we had together, until you died.
It's been three years now
since I last held your hand.
Losing you?
It wasn't something I had ever planned.
I wish you were still here--
still around.
If only you saw me now,
Maturing, and college-bound.
I hope that you'd be proud.
Not a day goes by
"Daddy, please be proud"
isn't whispered to the sky.
