Present
They say that "Optimism is for children!"
That "being positive is only for those
that don't understand the real world!"
They say that "That's just life!"
That "Being happy with your life is selfish!"
But, why?
Is it really that childlike
to find what makes me happy?
Is it really that innocent
to try to not think about that someone dies
on this planet every twelve seconds?
That right now someone is having the worst day of their lives.
And that I can't do anything about it.
Is it really that selfish
To find joy and passion in waking up each morning?
To enjoy the gift of free thought?
If roller coasters,
if vacations,
and if our lives,
all end in the exact same place we started
Don't we owe it to ourselves to
sit back and enjoy the literal ride of a lifetime?
Don't we owe it to ourselves to find happiness
In whatever we can?
To truly move past the things we can't change.
Because the past is nothing but a collection of chemical reactions in our brains
The future is just a projection we create in our minds.
So why not enjoy our present?
It quite literally is the only thing that exists.
It quite literally is the only thing that exists.
So I'll enjoy it to the fullest.
Will you?
