Self

He speaks so calmly

Quiet as a mouse he is

He reminds me of my childhood fears

So quiet, so distant, so beautiful

A creature of so much delight from afar

I sit there and wonder why

Why is he so mysterious?

I bring him no harm

I just want him to speak

A beautiful creature thee may be

But soonly did I know

When he spoke no longer was suspense hidden beneath

He spoke differently than expected

As he spoke his words slithered from the tip of his tongue

like the serpents from hell

No longer did he seem so peaceful, but frightful

I no longer ache to set him free

But caged as the beast he may be,
