what i want to be

When asked what I want to be 20 years from now

I often reply alive

Most people won’t accept this answer they prod on

They want an answer I can’t give them

An answer that I don’t know how to give them

I can barely decide what I’ll be doing a week from now

Yet they want me to make up my mind on how my life is played out at the age of 18

But games often don’t work that way

And my life is not a game to be preplanned like battleships

It’s not something I can map out and have it go according to planned

I choose to let things happen the way that it is

In my 18 years I’ve must have changed my mind on what I want to be a hundred times by now

And I suspect that I’ll change it a hundred more by the end of 20 years
