Old Glory

Old glory,

How tall and bright you stand,
As you have done for years on end.
Watching your country change,

Decade after decade.

Still the majesty in your strength
Leads me on to think
Of how you have watched us grow,
Of how we have changed,

Of how we have lived,
And how we have died

- Fighting for our rights,
Defending our loved ones -

As you look on,

Watching our mistakes.

You look on,

Overseeing us as we fix them.

As we learn and
As we grow
We understand your meaning
More and more,

Yet,
We still do not fully comprehend you.

Who could?

You are like a mystery,
An unsolvable mystery.

And so, we go through life
And you look on -

Seeing our ups and downs,
Our highs and lows.

Still, you,
Our star-spangled banner,
Lead us on.
