I'm not Suicidal

I’m not suicidal

But sometimes I wonder what would happen if I got in a car accident

If a distracted driver forgot to stop

I’m not suicidal

But sometimes I cry myself to sleep

Wondering what would happen if I didn’t wake back up

I’m not suicidal

But sometimes I wonder what it’d be like to be caught in a crossfire

A bullet not meant for me

I’m not suicidal

It’d be someone else’s fault

Not my doing

Comments

Tranquility Castro

Frequently people with mental illness are ostracised and blamed for their unhealthy thoughts. This is a poem depicting what it's like to fear the social and spiritual reprocusions associated with suicidal ideation.
