i'm not a poet
i don’t know what people mean
when they say
to write for yourself, or
write like no one
I’m trying to grow
I’m trying to prosper
But I can’t do so with you in the back of
My mind.
A sweltering sea
overtook my
nimble and anxious
body.
The salt had
burned my
pressed eyes;
the
waters were
deeper and heavier
than the
hidden
