break down

How wonderful you cannot choose
The place and part you least will bruise
For all the phases: yellow, green
Some unsightly, some unseen
You would miss out, you would not get
The new from different sustance skin
I hear her scream
I hear her tiny footsteps in the hallow way
Her shallow breathing quickening my heart
She is an empty shell of the person I knew
Her soft skin that used to soothe me is abused by her confusion
Do you know how
to put feeling back into me
into the tips of my fingers
the ends of my hair
the heels of my feet?
Do you know how
to put me back together
my bones
my blood
my skin?
I missed you again today
I've been doing this thing where I refrain from thinking about you until about the worst possible time in the day to break down
When I'm dipping in the pool for the beginning of practice
I am drawing a line
incredibly thin
across my chest,
longer than my arms that quiver,
beneath all of it
beneath all of it
thin thinner
I become
thin thinner
my hair falls
