fathers day
Learn more about other poetry terms
They're like the friends who mean well but always say the wrong thing,
These made-up holidays
Instead of casting the warm glow of a perfect nuclear family,
The third sunday in June is nothing
more than a Sunday.
I can’t celebrate a relationship that’s fiction.
If there was an anti-father’s day,
In times of fear
The days I see no light,
One thing is clear
My father is by my side.
On days I'm lost
With no where to go
When my mind is frost
My father is by my side.
Sitting
on blades of grass
which takes me to the sprinkler
he set for us in the yard.
Watching
offspring being given the sweetness
of the sugary affection from their daddies.
Happy Fathers’ Day
Happy Fathers’ Day to me,
My dad, and my granddad,
Happy Fathers’ Day around the world,
To the dads everywhere,
You touched many lives with one anew.
