now an adult who drives a car
he is going away to Oregon State
my brother is 18 and much older that me
he is leaveing for college
leaving me
i will miss him
but i know
Picking sunflowers under crisp skies,Chasing butterflies with crinkled eyes,
Freedom ringing and stars aligned,
Being young was a delight.
Blossoming was subconscious and slow,
No one told me
that there would be nights
where I would weep
for no known reason.
Those days were not
marked in my calender.
No one told me
that there would be times
of pure happiness
Every year we get older
Every second we die
We don’t really notice how we waste time
Days go by
Day turns to dawn, as dawn turns to day
When I was younger I had an idea about being like the big kids. Now I’ve found myself into a little bid. Growing up has many responsibilities. You must not show any traits of puerility.
As a kid the sun never sets
As a kid the memories never end
The hardest part of the day
Is deciding what game to play
As you get older
Our choices get bolder
A sign on the house
I thought it was something everyone was able to see. A child disguised as an adult. 19 I wasn’t sure how to go about all the new that was around me. A new job, a new life, and a very long way from everything I once knew.
