If my heart had a voice,
It would make a million wishes.
And, from each wish
a million stars would fall,
each one shattering the silence,
cutting through the walls.
This time is tinged with sadness
And through tears we say farewell
For a moment steeped with sorrow
In the silence we will dwell
But when that time is over
And we write your epitaph
Sitting
on blades of grass
which takes me to the sprinkler
he set for us in the yard.
Watching
offspring being given the sweetness
of the sugary affection from their daddies.
You told me I was beautiful
You said I made you smile
You said, “Take care,”
“Be happy, child.”
I ran your hand through my hair
You said you loved it short
It’s longer than it was
