I am a retired high school and college professor. The last 10 years of my teaching was as a college professor of literature and writing. I have self-published one book of prayers and meditations and am preparing another book of poetic odes to faith and love.

Humanity needs saving;
we have abused all of God’s creation.
Our leaders speak of planet Earth
as if it is ours to rape and plunder at will...
beauty glorifying nature
a snow-capped palisade
a river-blessed dale
every inch exalted
a regal condor sharing its firmament

Gracious God,
hidden yet so near;
Your work is within us,
holding our hands, our hearts
through trying times.
Awaken us with Your love,...
From isolation’s depth
your hand reached out to me, yet
I slapped it away,
my ignorance blinding me.
I reached for a different hand

Our lives filled with drudgery
we just plod along without
the joy of music in our lives.
Some tell us that we must chase after
