Your Model

Without a story,

Bedtime is unfulfilled.

Without assistance,

Homework is a pain.

If not your model,

Who is your mother?

Imagine your first teacher

With no knowledge to share;

A child with a million questions

Yet nowhere for answers.

If not the source of wisdom,

Who is your mother?

As the man is off in the fields,

His wife is home with the kids.

He may feed the children’s mouths,

But she is the one who feeds their minds.

If not the sustainer,

Who is your mother?

You mimic her,

You learn from her.

She is your first teacher;

She is your mother.
