Your Mask

It’s tiring to wear a mask

Make sure it doesn’t crack

Make sure it doesn’t reveal the truth

Constant checking

Constant fear

That the real you will be seen

You wear the mask

Because you don’t want worry

Because you think you can fix this

Because you’re lying to yourself

You know you can’t take it off

Because it’s your armor

And your life support

So, what do you do

When someone comes along

And sees right through the mask

Sees right into your heart

And knows the truth.

They see all the cracks

They see all the dried tears

They see it all

Do you surrender

Or make your forces stronger?

The choice is yours

But, there’s always a cost
