Your Fault

Depression settles in my bones
I finally begin to break
The things you do to me
Say the thoughts you've hidden
you never believed I could ever escape
Now I can't because of you
Every time I tried i failed miserably
So I quit trying
You never believed I could
Now I'm stuck in this awful place
I cry because I'm angry not out of sadness
you are the only one who could cause me to harm myself
It's your fault I'm here
I try to relieve myself with pain
But I can never cut deep enough
The wounds heal but the pain stays
I am physically scarred because of you
I tried to get out so many times
but I couldn't climb high enough to leave
my pain is not evident in my eyes or in my words
It is a secret battle I face the way your actions affect me is not shown
I don't want you to think I am vulnerable
You might hurt me more
every time I think it's over
It starts again and again
You wonder why I am so strange
Well it's a survival technique
It helps me get through the day
you wonder why I stopped caring
Well caring hurt too bad
you wonder why I cry at night
I cry because the person I used to be wants out
I cry because it hurts so bad to live.
You wonder why I balk when you yell
it is because I see the way you treat everyone else
I've always been the one excluded
You wonder why I don't tell you my secrets
It's because my biggest one is how you treat me
You wonder why I don't like crowds
It's because that is where I feel most alone
Congratulations you've broken my spirits
But in the process you've broken me
And made me someone I don't want to be
So congratulations you've broken me
