A Young Man's Thoughts

Dear God, Dear Lord.
Please say that you can hear me because I’m here and I am Bored.
What exactly do you see in me?
Just tell me what you want.
Where am I supposed to be?
Just tell me what I need.

Step One: I stand back
Step Two: I take a breath
Step Three:  I think of how bad it is,
And then how bad it can be,
But I know in my heart that it WILL NOT be the death of me.

So what’s so special about the questions that I ask?
Because I know for certain that they’ve been asked in the past.
What makes me so lucky to have all the answers?
Still this doubt, it grows and spreads like cancer.

All I know is that my salvation is calling.
And it is the only freakin’ thing that keeps me from falling.
I know that you are faithful; that you are my rock and you make me stable.
I’ve decided that I’m not going to worry about THEIR plans,
So I can show this world that I am still becoming a better man.

Still, I don’t know why you gave me these dreams.
Its all in vain and that is all that it seems.
But you are the lamp upon my feet.
And even though my journey is far, I still know in my heart that that light WILL NOT go dark.

These are the thoughts of a young man,
A young man that has been tortured from within until he can’t stand
On his own two feet.
But with confidence, I can say that these words are not and WILL NOT be just about me.
NO!
They are the thoughts of every young man who has walked through the years.
Every young man who has seen and felt the fear of living,
And looking in the mirror.

None of these words are meant to offend,
But to restore purpose and give hope that one day;
We will all become better men.
