For you, who cannot break my spirit

Even when I close my eyes,
I can still see the fists wildly being thrashed at me
Even when I cover my ears,
I can still hear the spits of insults and names being flung at me
Even when I touch my skin
I can still feel sting of bruises and cuts that lacerated my entire body
Even when I cover my nose
I can still smell the stench of alcohol on their breath
Even when I close my lips
I can still taste the metallic blood in my mouth
Even when I think back to those times they would try to bring me down, torment me, abuse me,
I still get back up
