You Called Yourself My Neighbor
You called yourself my neighbor.
Your children played with mine.
We laughed and cried together.
It seemed like you were there when we had no time
But yet, when the demons came marching,
You stood by cheering and watching.
Welcoming monsters into our city.
You called yourself my neighbor,
Yet now you spit on me.
My children are starving;
My husband is dying,
Yet you walk on by and do nothing.
You called yourself my neighbor,
But now you glare accusingly.
You called yourself my neighbor,
Yet now you watch as we’re condemned mercilessly.
YOU CALLED YOURSELF MY NEIGHBOR!
You called yourself my neighbor,
But now you have no issue with killing me.
