The Yin Yang of Life

My grass isn’t green, but I can buy fake grass.

Plastic causes cancer, yet I can drink from a glass.

While doing dishes I cut my finger with a knife,

Yet band-aids are here to help in life!

For problems in the world there is always something awesome.

From the bright blue ocean, to the white apple blossom.

Yesterday I saw a homeless man on the street,

whom this little blond girl gave her only treat.

Somewhere a flag is traded for a soldier never coming back,

To ensure the safety of our country from another terrorist attack.

It’s awesome the sacrifices people will make!

The kindness to give all there is to take!

I live in a country where we are free!

Not many understand the reason behind my glee.

You have the right to peacefully riot, protest and march,

In many countries you couldn’t, they live in a matriarch.

It’s awesome the things that are accomplished by communities!

There are always people jumping at volunteer opportunities!

Whether flood or fire, you can depend on each other.

Lives are salvaged and pieces glued back together.

It’s awesome to live in a country that is free!

Where you can be you and I can be me!

A shy girl sits at a lunch table alone for awhile,

Until a boy she never met, sat by her with a smile.

There are bullies who push kids down on the street,

Luckily, kind strangers help them back on their feet.

In a world that can be negative and full of despair,

You just have to look, because there is awesome everywhere!!!
