Counting off the hours since I've seen your face,
it has be so long.
I wear your shirt to bed,
every night, I listen to our song.
Tears stream down,
in an endless cascade.
They say "time heals all wounds,"
but my pain doesn't seem to fade.
The dreams still return,
every. single. night.
But your touch fades away,
with the early morning light.
I can still hear your soft whisper,
"I love you dear."
Knowing I will never hear that again,
always brings yet another tear.
Lying in bed lonely and afraid,
remembering the past.
Taking in a deep breath,
knowing it will be my last.
The towns people will say,
"She grieved herself to death."
But I want you to know I loved you,
up until my very last breath.
As I drift away slowly,
I see your sweet smile.
My life may be over, but only you
made my life worth while.
