The Worst Kind of Art

Wed, 07/31/2019 - 02:56 -- dorankc

I thought it was love

that fleeting look of appreciation in your eyes

made me feel like I could be enough

why did it take me so long to realize you lied?

I wanted you to love me

no, I craved it

I needed someone simply

and you needed a hit

cravings are too strong to shake

and you seemed willing

so I gave my all, just for you to take

you promised your heart

and I gave you my soul

our "love" was a sad form of art

so here I sit with paint-stained hands

dreaming of you asking for a second chance

too bad your love only existed in my mind
