Woman in the Mirror

Location

When I was 10 they started telling me to "be the change you want to see".

I wasn't aware that I was a ball of matter where wind blows the trees.

Just because I become a doctor or lawyer doesn't mean I've changed the world,

But they tell me i would have because I'd be one less girl

On the streets, or in the strip club

Handing him a stack of cash after giving Sugar Daddy a hug.

Setting an example for the younger kids to be more like me

Rather than their aspirations being limited to what they hear on the radio or see on TV.

A lot of people have asked me "what would you change?"

I'd probably allow myself to have more vocal range.

Oh, right. Not within myself, something bigger.

Let's all stop judging, the homeless man you shun could someday be your role model figure.

And let everyone just live their lives.

It's not hurting you for those two women to have wives.

I guess for me to want the world to change I have to set the standard

And watch what I do because my actions matter.

To be the change I want to see must work, must be of help

Because I can't change everyone on Earth without starting with myself.
