The Wind Rises

The Wind Rises

by Emma McNulty

The wind will rise n' put your dream in flight

Until you're dragged down slowly by real life.

Your mind floods with promise n' colors bright

Before it's tainted with that dismal strife.

It's like you look for things that make you tick;

That drive you up the wall that you have built,

That block you from your vision brick-by-brick.

You masque the wall with paint, yet it has split.

But then you look where you could be when you

Put end to all obstructive barriers.

Allow your gut to take you places new

And rid yourself of useless panniers.

The pilot of your dreams is you, you know,

So start to soar; don't you dare look below!
