Will You Be There?

Location

How can I learn to trust that you'll be there
If I need you when I'm hurt or betrayed or scared,
When most of your species only turns a blind eye
To what goes on in this place, like it's sanctified.

If a child is getting pushed around, bullying we call it,
But you see two young people holding hands and throw a fit.
They didn't cause a scene, but that young boy's black eye will
And when or if you find out you could have prevented it, how will it feel?

So next time you see someone looking disheartened by vultures
Picking at their clothes or their looks, just remember,
To some people intervening looks bad, ruins their 'rep',

But to that one kid, you could keep him from later taking a bad step.
