My want to be a hero drove me to this art form called poetry
An infestation of ungifted lyricist has has seeped into hip-hop and they are growing uncontrollably
The demise of a music genre will be at the those who cannot appreciate it's history
And I will not have hip-hop's blood on my hands for it will be my ultimate misery

The greats all knew where their inspiration came from
Tupac studied Shakespeare and look at the legend he has become
All because he realized the meaning of the initials r.a.p.
Yes rhythm was important but poetry was the key

The younger generation has watered-down this art form like week old sprite
I'm trying to be the hero that brings poetry back to hip-hop with all my might
So I picked up my pen and began this fight
To return poetry to hip-hop and this is why I write
