White Privilege

I find myself

In an unappreciated

Unasked for

Unhappy position of power

That I have been hated for

And rightfully so.

I have fought it off

While fighting my own battles

For my bodily freedom

And the burden I have carried

That no one knows

That I am fighting against.

My family isn't “Trump/Pence”

I am just as mad as you are.

I'm doing what I can

To turn this around

And prove to you

That my arms are safe

And sound proof

I can rely on you

And you can rely on me.

The secrets we will keep

Will be sacred and valued.

So don't get me wrong

I know where I stand

In an unjust

Unfree

Messed up land and

I understand you're scared

I am too.

But I am not the same

I will protect you.
