While the Silent Birds Sing

There’s something about the birds' song as of late

I can’t quite decipher, I can’t comprehend

It’s a strange sort of humming sung right at the gate

It sounds like a melody; it sounds like the end

Blue faces surround me, or could they be red

I know there’s a wind blowing cold and so near

I feel like I’m falling; I can’t feel my head

I’ve seen this before; It’s the unseen I fear

Why do silent birds want to scream so loud

My ears are radiating in hues of black

While the claws of humanity stray far now

I lay here knowing I’ll never go back

What waters surround me, what red sea is this

Night winds now surround me as death’s final kiss
