Where I'm From

Sun, 12/29/2024 - 16:47 -- Jade gt

I am from long train rides, crossing borders and foreign foods.

I am from the competitive spirit of any and all sports.

I am from the world of music; pop, rock, reggae, you name it.

Sweet melodies.

Whose notes fill my head with wonders as I press play.

I am from Italian dishes and homemade island cuisine.

From outdoor grilling in the summer breeze.

I am from soldiers,

and family,

who told me I was always a bit of everything.

I am from Centennial lands,

with amazing views.

From small town houses,

to Sandy Shores.

From a fresh Autumn Breeze.

I am from large festivals and celebrations,

with food stands all around.

With beautiful Autumn trees,

and leaves falling with every Autumn breeze.

From backyard fun,

from giant playgrounds,

from saying I will not lose in every schoolyard game,

knowing it was a lie.

From climbing 500 steps as a child to climbing high peaks,

and bleeding determination.

From Rivals being as close as family.

From memories that I will never lose.

In my closet lay pictures,

pictures of every Adventure I've had so far.

Whether they're from 10 years ago or just two

there a collection of my journey that has yet to be finished.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
