Where I'm From

Sat, 09/21/2013 - 08:44 -- Sluzier

Location

I am from rocking chairs,

from fish tanks and mixers.

I an from messy but homey,

and small but large.

I am from red roses

whose red petals glisten

under the sun as if with sweat.

I am from cookies and clothspins,

from Luzier and Kurpica.

I am from halloween blowouts and easter egg searches,

and from Christmas eve get togethers,

from weekend "happy" gatherings.

I am from Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

I am from a politician and a cathtolic girl,

from cake and apple pie.

From great grandparents sailing abroad from the home lands,

and from moving through the hills of West Virgina where my great grandparents settled.

Blankie tucked up tight under my chin,

blanket wrapped securely around me.

I am from those moments

all those memories and many more and more to come.
