When I Realized

When I realized

I was filled with shock.

It had never before occured to me that,

I was no longer a child.

I had sought the concept of being a grown up

for as long as I could remember.

But it never before occured to me that,

I was no longer a child.

I drove my car,

real this time.

Bought my food,

not plastic but edible.

I called my mum,

had not talked in a while,

Put down my phone

and realized.

I realized here in college,

working for my life,

responsable for myself.

I am no longer a child.

It is now.

I understand.

Take each moment,

Treasure it.

You will grow

You will age

You will realize

You are no longer a child.
