What you see is what

What you see is what you get.

What you see I don't get,

you look but you don't see.

you know where I be,

but you do not know me!

you see black and you see white,

you think what you might.

you look but you don't see,

you stare and don't care that I'm still there.

You point of view is not what is true

because all you think about is you.

Ignorance causes us to be blind.

And I will not be defined

I'm not white and he's not black

i am a woman in love with a man who loves me back.

I wrote this poem to honor the people who overcome racial discrimination everyday in their relationship, in their family

and in their everyday life.
