What You Saw

Did you see what you came to see?

The sunset over the mountains

The sights you paid for a few ounces

Magic paper is youth’s fountain

And you’ve already wasted thousands

Did you see what you came to see?

Smiling faces at you so surely

Little woman on her own journey

A lost soul in such a hurry

The mind can become so blurry

Did you see what you came to see?

Old men who want to trade their train ticket

Everyone’s faces looking so wicked

The black sky with the bright stars it printed

Those colors never looked so vivid

Did you see what you came to see?

A bamboo bridge over muddy water

A trail to paranoid hallucinations

Come on girl, walk a little farther

Troubled ways send an invitation

Did you see what you came to see?

Breaths the collarbone swallows

Drowning yourself in your own sorrow

You’ll shiver it out waiting for tomorrow

Locking yourself in your own shadow

Did you see what you came to see?

The innerworkings of your twisted mind

Wandering around and what do you find

Deep in your psyche is no longer in disguise

Inside your own head can be so unkind

Did you see what you came to see?

Did you see it?

Are you happy?
