What do you answer if they ask if life is worth living
Dear me but not really me,
You may come to read this letter
Heartbroken and in tears just like I was
Asking yourself if it will ever get better
You have pain inside you deeper than any cut
You start making a mental list of people who care
You forget people like your brother and your mother
Because in your mind they're obligated to care
You don't talk to them because you aren't a bother
Yet at the end of the day, the person who saves you
Is not the person you would think
No knight in shining armor, just a person just like you
Another human who recognizes your struggle and in a blink
Decides to offer friendship to one in need
Death is no longer an answer, nor an escape
Rather death is seen as a let down to that friend
Who in a world of billions of people chose you to befriend
The days are no longer as hot, the nights not as cold
You have someone to give you a hug when you think you're all alone
Gone are the feelings of despair and sadness
Of being alone and being unhappy
In its place is a feeling of joy for some simple reason
The feeling of having someone there for you throughout all seasons
So when you ask yourself the question is it worth the choice
To end your life and rob a future friend of getting to know you
I ask you to reach out to friends and family and those around you
Because behind every smiling face, there is some form of sadness
You are not alone in this world and what you're thinking isn't the answer
Find someone who can be your friend or maybe even your dance partner
At the end of the day, all life if precious but yours especially so
My words and I will be here through your warm and your cold
I pray that one day you see, just like me
That at the end of our rope, there always will be
Someone like me.
