Savior

The curtain is my savior

Hides me in the black

Saves me from all the lights.

Helps me push forth a smile

For things

And people

I don't like.

Then I realized the curtain

Laughs at my life

And the way I hide behind

Its black felt.

I pushed forward into the light

Headstrong

Rewarded with the clapping of hands and

Welcome arms.

Now I laugh at the curtain

When it calls and hollers my name

To come and hide again

And push away the fame.

The curtain forced me out

To face the real me

The curtain is my savior.
