We were once a people.
We taught together.
We fought together,
For freedom.
Our people won.
Black teachers, doctors, politicians.
The sky was the limit.
We were family.
Daddy was always there.
My brother was your brother.
My mother was your mother.
But today,
We are losing.
My mother stabbed your mother.
My brother shot your brother.
Our children have no father.
Dope-dealers, car stealers;
That’s our aspiration
I wonder,
What has happened to our nation?
