We are so much more than the rocks on our chain

Or the chronic smoke that clouds our brain

We are so much more than the sagging of our pants

We are so much more than hoes and pimps

Or over extended our selves eating lobster and shrimps

We are so much more than lying around getting welfare

Or having bad credit because we simply don’t care

We are so much more than the popping of a nine

Or starting everything late because we can’t get there on time

We are so much more than making so many babies

Or not doing business with our own because we think they are shady

We are so much more than being in jail

Or not being able to go to Harvard or Yale

We are so much more than not going to school

Or getting the latest designer clothes because it makes us look cool

We are so much more than disrespecting our women, putting down our men

And hating what is black like the rest of them

We are so much more than the rolling of our necks and eyes

Or wearing skirts that don’t pass our thighs

We are so much more than brothers on the down low

We are so much more than selling drugs
