Watching Through Salty Eyes

I watch the wave,

come in,

go out,

come in,

go out.

Softly brushing the white sand,

of a bloody beach.

I watch the fronds,

sway back,

sway forth,

sway back,

sway forth.

Softly brushing the white clouds,

of a darkened sky.

I watch the water on the rocks,

crash up,

slide down,

crash up,

slide down.

Softly molding the rocks,

wearing them thin.

I watch you,

WAIT YOU?

Were you here the whole time?

You run,

keep running,

you sprint,

keep running.

you fly,

keep running!

I reach out to hug you,

and YOU’RE REAL!

Our lips meet softly.

And then you fade,

keep fading,

fade,

keep fading,

fade away into the sand.

And I close my salty eyes.
