The Walls of my Heart

My heart once had walls up so high
It seemed like they could reach the sky
It was safe and had no fear
It never let someone come near

My life then changed when I met you
I never knew something this true
As you came near my walls fell down
I’ll scream your name across the town

My heart now knows what it can be
To be a part of “you and me”
I look at you, it warms my heart
I know we’ll never fall apart

Those walls of fear now are gone
As you sing me a loving song
I sit at home and wonder how
I’m so lucky to have you now

So hold me close and hold me tight
You’ll keep me warm throughout the night
No more tears or times to cry
I know we won’t have a goodbye

I'll walk in the shadows for you and me
Although it's something you'll never see
You took my hand
And helped me stand

When we're apart I know it's true
I'll never be quite done with you
These walls of stone have fallen down
Now I can see across the town

To build them up wouldn not be right
I want to have you in my sight
Stone by stone, brick by brick
I know it will never be as thick

For you there will always be a door
If I'm the one you're looking for
And in any circumstance
You'll always have a second chance

So come close best friend
This can't be the end
I'll be here for you through any fright
I'll be here for you day or night
