Wake Up Call

“But I love him “

That was my every excuse that I used.

That’s what I would say when I was done venting to my friends.

I would run through a list of all the bad feelings he made me feel & all the

Ways that he stressed my heart & soul out every day, and

At the end of it all I would always say, ‘it’s just so much I am o feed up… But I love him.’

One day one of my friends stopped me mid-way of venting to them & said

‘But why do you stay with a man who makes you feel as if you are nothing but

A passing chapter in his life, what is so great about a person who makes you feel so bat at times.

Count the days he has made you happy. Now count the days he has made you unhappy...’

You think that is love?

There is was

My wake up call.

We have tricked ourselves into thinking that being disrespected

Is better than being alone

That love is putting up with someone’s ignorance

That only their feelings are valid & ours are just a minor tantrum

We talk about them as though they put us up on a pedestal when they

Were truly digging our grave.

Wake up darling, that person will never change, they will keep harming you,

They will never love you the way you love them

Don’t ignore the red flags

Staying in a bad relationship isn’t beautiful or poetic

It staying up at 3:00 am wondering where it went wrong or what he is doing or who is he with

What is beautiful is loving yourself

Loving who you are regardless of how other people see you.

There is no flower brighter than the first to bloom after a harsh winter..
