The Veteran

Location

He went to war.

He went to die.

He went to battle for you and I.

He was not forced to do this thing.

He did it, because of the Liberty Bell’s ring.

He left his family, his only kin.

He went far away to the lion’s den.

He fought with pride and with valor.

He went alone in the final hour.

He was brought back on a lonely plane.

He was mourned by many in the bitter rain.

He left a son and a forlorn wife.

He could not help them in their strife.

He will be remembered by you and me.

He will be honored through our liberty.
