THE UNBOTHERED

Sun, 05/16/2021 - 05:00 -- Oyode

She cares little, this giggling nude toddlerLook! Like birds in  the sky children walk the streetUnfettered 'bout how to put garri on the tableKpim! War rudely visits, calm takes a swift flight Boy, you're ready with the price to take mama's life?Little daughter, that dross of a Benz is but a coffin Ah nah, leper! So you say to my fustian verse too Alas! You embrace it anyway like your eyes are be'olden  Yes "my mother never chop and this won't choke." Brava! We are unbothered! Don't care, he's not your brother Man of God you saunter around in your Versace shoesYet stutter before the power at the Rock. Kilode? No milk in our tea but your jet flies high with proud speedFlaunt the tenths of our wealth, it's from God, you don't bother? I am a bad boy too, my head's unbothered It's not my headache, I'd power my generator Bore a hole and create your own waterBandits trample over their children, my army stands at my doorI don't care, I'd be' the last and I'd die so unbothered. Thomas Oyode (Musings on Naija, May 1, 2021)
