Unable to Fill the Void
You can buy alarms, locks, and keys,
But not the feeling of safety, nor a mind at ease.
You can buy make-up, shoes, and clothes,
But not the feeling of beauty from your head to your toes.
You can buy dinner, movies, and dates,
But not the feeling true connection creates.
You can buy therapy and counseling every day,
But not the feeling of just being okay.
You can buy guitars, lessons, and drums,
But not the feeling of having your song sung.
You can buy and buy,
Spend and spend,
Get everything you want,
And have nothing in the end.
